Michael J. Brandt was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1952. Mr. Brandt received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in 1976, and graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1985, While at the University of Alabama, Mr. Brandt served as the Alabama Editor of the Alabama Law Review and was inducted into Order of the Coif.

Following graduation, Mr. Brandt was employed by the Birmingham firm of Bradley, Arant, Rose & White as an associate for five years. He joined the firm of Berkowitz, Lefkovits, Isom & Kushner, where he was a partner until he joined Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt, L.L.C. in August of 1991. Mr. Brandt's practice encompasses most areas of commercial and corporate law, with a concentration in real estate acquisition and development, real estate and asset based commercial lending, as well as advising financial institutions on regulatory matters. In addition, Mr. Brandt has extensive experience in business acquisitions, including bank and bank holding company acquisitions and reorganizations.

Mr. Brandt is a member of the Alabama Bar, Birmingham Bar Association and the American Bar Association, where he serves on subcommittees dealing with Community Banks, Bank Regulation and Legislation, Secured Transactions and Letters of Credit.
