Michael L. Jackson's practice is concentrated primarily in the areas of appeals/appellate advocacy; employment and labor law (including employment litigation, discrimination, contracts, drug-free workplaces/drug testing, litigation prevention/employee policies, and employee benefits/ERISA); arbitration/alternative dispute resolution; election and voting law; constitutional law and civil rights (including First Amendment free speech, voting, and religion issues); general business and commercial litigation; and insurance litigation. Mr. Jackson also has been published and has experience in the areas of medical or bioethical legal issues such as reproductive technology and abortion.

Mr. Jackson has been an attorney of record on more than thirty reported appellate cases. Some representative cases include disputes over the enforcement of arbitration agreements; claims under the Alabama's consumer-credit laws (the "Mini-Code"); derivative and minority-shareholder "squeeze-out" claims; fraudulent misrepresentation, fraudulent suppression, and negligence claims; disputes over the powers of local governmental entities; discovery and venue disputes; redistricting and gerrymandering disputes; and the election-related disputes concerning the 1998 race for Sheriff of Jefferson County, Alabama, the 1996 race for a Jefferson County Circuit Court judge, and the 1994 race for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama.

Mr. Jackson was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1968. He graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University in 1990 with a B.A. in Political Science. Mr. Jackson attended law school at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, where he graduated with honors in 1993. While at the University of Texas, he served as an associate editor of the Texas Law Review, served as a member of the Legal Research Board, and received the Best Brief Award.

Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Jackson served as law clerk to The Honorable Hugh Maddox, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama. Mr. Jackson is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, all Alabama state courts, and all Alabama federal district courts. Mr. Jackson is a member of the Alabama State Bar (including the Appellate and Labor & Employment Law sections), the Birmingham Bar Association, the Federalist Society, the Christian Legal Society, and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Jackson is also the author of Fatherhood and the Law: Reproductive Rights and Responsibilities of Men, 9 Tex. J. Women & L. 53 (1999).
