Michael Velezis was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1969. He graduated from Bentley College in 1991 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and was selected for membership in, and later presided as president of, the Order of Omega Honorary. Mr. Velezis graduated Cum Laude from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 1995, where he was inducted into Curia Honoris and served as the Comment Editor of the Cumberland Law Review.

While in law school, Mr. Velezis was named Dean Parham H. Williams Scholar and H. Hobart Grooms Scholar. Mr. Velezis's practice focuses on complex civil and commercial litigation, including mass tort and pharmaceutical litigation.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, Birmingham Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Velezis currently serves on DRI's Technology Committee and on the Birmingham Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
